Stray Kids‘ Seungmin and WEi‘s Seokhwa have been friends since their trainee days and proved how close they were when one of them accidentally fell. That wasn’t the only moment between the two groups that left viewers feeling warm inside.
On that episode of Weekly Idol, Seungmin ended up crying thanks to his juniors but for a very sweet reason.
Dedicating a special stage to fans, Junseo, Seokhwa, Yongha, and Daehyeon sang a cover of BLACKPINK‘s “STAY”.
The performance was a hit for Seungmin, who praised the group. He said, “Their voices are all so sweet, but the lyrics are so sad.”
He was so touched by their stage that he admitted to crying. Seungmin made them laugh by asking, “Why are you making me cry, WEi?”
Yohan and MC Super Junior‘s Eunhyuk pointed out Seungmin’s facial expression, which left them unsure if he was crying. Seungmin confirmed he hadn’t been joking and actually cried “a little.”
For Seungmin to be moved to tears, WEi truly put on a heartfelt performance.
It looks like WEi did BLACKPINK justice with their cover, using vocals full of the most touching emotions.
See Seungmin shed a few tears after listening to WEi.
On Friday, October 28, BTS‘s Jin released his anticipated solo single “The Astronaut,” co-written by Coldplay, along with its music video, which follows him as an extraterrestrial being that crash-landed on earth.
While ARMYs suspected long ago that Jin filmed the MV in Los Angeles (they were totally right), Jin himself spoiled it (or at least a specific scene) before its release.
music video director, Lumpens and Bang PD are in LA right now, also Dispatch reporting seokjin's departure to LA today pic.twitter.com/wAFNyxtFgU
A director of Photography, Nam Hyun Woo posted a pic that shows he's already in LA. He is also the one who worked for few BTS MV such as ON, Fake Love, Black Swan, Dynamite, Butter, PTD, Life Goes On, Yet to Come, That That along with Lumpens pic.twitter.com/HymoZ4OVET
During the music video, there’s a scene of Jin aggressively running in a suit. It’s a moment that appears straight out of a movie.
Some ARMYs pointed out that they don’t remember seeing Jin ever run before, though.
This is completely off topic but Jin runs like he hates running and he wants it to end like idk why this clip is so funny. I don’t think I’ve ever seen Jin run before pic.twitter.com/dgscDfSFz8
Well, Jin had lowkey hinted at this scene during his guest appearance on rapper Lee Young Ji‘s YouTube show Alcohol Diary (also known as No Prepare or Nothing Much Prepared).
He expressed during his time on the show that he was experiencing aches and pains because he had gone on a 10-minute run a few days prior.
At the time, ARMYs were curious why Jin had been running, and some even thought he was lying to cover something up. From what we know, he doesn’t usually exercise by jogging or anything like that.
Now, having seen the MV for “The Astronaut,” we know he must have been filming the running scene! It all makes sense now.
BTS has an incredible friendship; they continually cheer each other on, showing their respect and appreciation for each other.
Like most friend groups, BTS has a private group chat where the members can talk to each other, and in the past, the members have identified Jin and Jimin as the members who respond to the chat the quickest.
While J-Hope and V might be some of the slower members to respond.
In a recent interview with GQ, where Jin showed off his ten essential items, the idol admitted that BTS don’t actually text each other often.
We don’t really text or call each other.
— Jin
Instead, Jin uses his phone, which is “like air, like oxygen to [him],” for apps like YouTube or Webtoon.
My favorite app is YouTube, like a lot of people nowadays. And in the Korean market, Webtoons have developed a lot.
— Jin
He also frequently uses his phone to research things on the internet, like when he has questions about one of the many games he plays.
Then in second place for me is the internet. Because I game a lot. There’s a lot I need to look up.
— Jin
And while Jin admitted that the members don’t talk to each other often, he quickly explained that they do not need to text each other when they spend so much time together.
Out of 365 days in the year, the BTS members and I see each other probably 360 days. Because there’s a lot of things we do.
— Jin
Jin shared that the members spend even their free time together by explaining that he has taken J-Hope with him to play tennis.
I had dinner with J-Hope, and I had plans to play tennis afterwards. I said to J-Hope, ‘Since you know how to play tennis, do you want to come with me to go play with my friends?‘ So I made him come with me.
— Jin
And that many of the members used to game together.
About a year or year and a half ago, three or four of us would game together. We would play a game during our work schedule. We’d play a game when we were out. We’d play a game at home. There was a time like that.
— Jin
Even Jin’s phone case is “made of BTS stuff,” showing just how much the members care about each other.

The Belgian ice cream brand Magnum Ice Cream hasn’t been shy about how much they adore BTS‘s Jimin. Whether they’re kicking off the week with a dose of Jimin…
Fans jokingly told the brand to “get in line” as one of the many fans who adore the idol and even offered ideas for a Magnum Ice Cream advertisement featuring Jimin.
Park Jin Woo is a Korean-Canadian writer, named one of the top up-and-coming writers by The Asian Canadian Writers’ Workshop (ACWW) in 2020. His fictional work, Oxford Soju Club, won the 2020 Jim Wong-Chu Emerging Writers’ Award. But some ARMYs know him better for his insightful analysis of BTS‘s works on his TikTok account.
A recent clip of him analyzing RM‘s mixtape mono is going viral on Twitter because of an unexpected detail he caught in one of the songs. Park explains that “Mono” is a highly autobiographical body of work, and the evidence lies in the very first song of the mixtape. The track is named “Tokyo,” and its first line says, “Wake up in Tokyo, feel like a torso, I know it’s time to go.” In the past four years, fans have come up with many interpretations for this line, but most of them focused on the meaning of the phrase “Feel like a torso.”
Park, however, explains that the first few words, “Wake up in Tokyo,” carry more significance here. “Wake Up: Open Your Eyes” was the title of BTS’s first-ever tour in Japan in 2015.
In a way, this is where it all began. Back in 2015, when the Japan tour happened, they weren’t very well-known, they were quite new. They could’ve easily disbanded, failed, like so many others. And that’s the thing about this album, even more than his other works. It’s a very personal one, I feel.
—Park Jin Woo
He further discusses how each song on the mixtape is an honest reflection of emotions and feelings that RM has experienced in his own life and are, therefore, uniquely his own.
He talks about his complex relationship with his own in ‘Seoul’. He talks about his inner struggle in Uhgood, his fatigue and desire to simply rest in ‘Forever Rain’.
—Park Jin Woo
The explanation of “Tokyo” specifically made an impression on many ARMYs who had never considered that the first line could be a direct reference than a poetic instrument.
@BTS_twt the "wake up in tokyo" reference wow mono is really a treasure i love discovering new meanings even after a while what a great artist you are joon pic.twitter.com/F4fVigGZsZ
Why have I never seen 'wake up in tokyo' deciphered this way !?!??#@
This is what joon meant when he said he wants to make music ppl will listen over and over and say "ahh this is what he meant" pic.twitter.com/p45AHKOrAb
Park went on to discuss how RM is often recognized for his genius lyricism, but in his opinion, the honesty and the vulnerability he dares to show in his work make him an incomparable artist. “He puts himself, his pains, his losses, his struggles all into his music, and it’s senseless to try to compare him to someone else,” he concluded.
Actor Yoon Hong Bin recently shared his experience during the Itaewon Halloween Emergency, as he participated in what he thought would be fun Halloween festivities before the night took a tragic turn.
Actor Yoon Hong Bin, known for his role as Prince Imhae in the KBS historical Korean drama The Jingbirok: A Memoir of Imjin War, recounted his experience in Itaewon the night of the tragedy in an effort to help people mourn together.
Yoon Hong Bin shared that it was his first experience partaking in the Halloween celebrations in Itaewon, and although he didn’t like crowds, he wanted to join the festivities at least once.
He confirmed that the main streets were filled with people, and he immediately felt the situation was dangerous for himself and his girlfriend, model Byun Jeong Ah, to be in.
While he was not part of the crowd in the alleyway during the surge, he shared he was pushed around multiple times due to the large number of people walking around throughout the night. At one point, after nearly falling, it took him over 10 minutes to get out of the crowd. During that time, he also helped another person who had fallen down.
When the crowd surge happened, Yoon Hong Bin was in a nearby bar and witnessed the beginning of the tragedy as he stepped outside for a cigarette.
While over 142 emergency vehicles were reportedly dispatched to the area to assist victims, heavy pedestrian and vehicle traffic delayed rescue efforts as medical personnel struggled to reach the location of the tragedy.
Upon seeing the crowd surge, Yoon Hong Bin shared that he rushed to help the victims, laying people on the ground to perform CPR while they waited on medics.
For over 20 minutes, I administered CPR. My girlfriend massaged the victim’s arms and legs, too. We tried mouth-to-mouth respiration. We were crying and praying for the victim to regain consciousness. Dozens of people were performing CPR on the victims in the alley. You could hear all of us begging for the victims to open their eyes. But, from what I know, only one victim from the alley where I was eventually regained consciousness. I was not able to save the victim I was helping.
— Yoon Hong Bin
In Yoon Hong Bin’s recalling of the tragedy, he expressed his frustration with the lack of adequate police presence for the number of people in Itaewon that night.
He hopes that people will learn from this tragedy and put safety measures in place to prevent something like this from happening again.
Additional civilian rescue efforts and full coverage of the tragedy can be found below.
Fans were surprised in the best way when they found out that the managers of two of SM Entertainment‘s most iconic groups married each other.
Earlier this month netizens were amused when two fansite masters announced their marriage to each other. Two fansites of ALICE‘s (formerly ELRIS) Yukyung, First Camera and FlowerTint, were married on October 15, going viral.
In a similar, perhaps even more satisfying turn of events, it was revealed that the managers of TVXQ and SHINee were married to each other on October 30, taking fans hilariously by surprise.
Idk who’s AO3 is this but it’s kinda mental that SHINee’s manager marrying TVXQ’s manager XD
Arguably two of the biggest legends in K-Pop, TVXQ and SHINee both attended the wedding.
TVXQ’s Yunho and Changmin were both present—and playing key roles. Changmin was one of the main performers…
…while Yunho was the event’s MC.
Of the members of SHINee, Minho, Onew and Taemin attended, the latter of whom fans were definitely happy to see!
As expected, SHINee’s Onew also came to deliver a touching performance, proving that the members’ friendship with their managers is forever. He reportedly sang the track, “Beautiful.”
The ending song for the wedding was reportedly “Hope,” which was the final song in the setlist for SMTOWN LIVE 2022. Red Velvet‘s Wendy was also not only in attendance, but there to perform as well, leading fans to joke about how the wedding was essentially yet another SMTOWN concert.
Seeing as the friendship between TVXQ and SHINee goes way back, most notably between Changmin and Minho, fans have also been hilariously “speculating” as to how the managers fell in love in the first place.
shinee’s manager and tvxq’s manager got married today good for them I know those people saw each other everyday spending all this time around minho and changmin flirting they fell in love as well
Now, as fans say, the two groups are forever bonded in more ways than just simple bromance.
Of course, many were also surprised at the news because of how Taemin iconically liked to spill the tea about “Manager Euisoo” and his unfortunate perpetual singleness.
taemin and kibum airing out all of their manager euisoo's business and trying to find him a girlfriend pic.twitter.com/BCGbdiKbRE
Fans were wondering if Manager Euisoo had finally beaten the single allegations, but as it turns out, the wedding was not his. As things stand, he is still single (and ready to be lovingly roasted by Taemin when he returns).
As great as it is to always see members of K-Pop groups being besties, it might even be better to see how genuine their relationship is with the people they work with behind the scenes, as this truly says a lot about their real personalities!
Following the tragic news of the crowd surge in Itaewon—killing 154 people who visited the area to celebrate Halloween, multiple witnesses and survivors from the scene have pointed out a single “cause” of the incident: Pushing.
It is estimated that over 100,000 people traveled to Itaewon, a district known for its nightlife, to celebrate Halloween at the first “no masks required” event held in three years after previous restrictions were in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
A YouTuber, Seon Yeo Jung, had been taking footage and photos in anticipation of making a vlog about the Halloween festivities and shared her witness account of the event,
Behind me, people were shouting things like ‘Push! We’re stronger! We can win this, haha!’ and began pushing. Some of us were trying to get the crowd to follow the right-hand traffic again, but it was no use. I was honestly being pushed and shoved around against my will.
Then, all of a sudden, chaos ensued and everyone started pushing back and forth aggressively—like a tug of war. It didn’t take too long before I started feeling the sheer force of the people pushing. My vision started fading.
My friend, who was there with me, is stronger than I am. So they held on to me and helped me withstand the force. Had I not been with my friend, I would’ve absolutely fallen.
— Seon Yeo Jung
New footage shared in Korean online community boards from the night of the tragedy allegedly shows the moment the crowd surge began.
In the footage, the crowd is initially seen moving in both directions and keeping to the right side in the direction they were walking, corroborating Seon Yeo Jung’s recollection of the crowd attempting to maintain order before the surge.
Moments later, a push from the top of the alleyway rapidly moves the crowd several feet downhill as a mixture of yelling and laughing can be heard in the initial confusion.
The crowd settles for a moment before being pushed forward again from the top of the alleyway. People could be heard yelling, “go back, go back!” in an attempt to alert the crowd entering the alley.
People began to understand the gravity of the situation as many sought to step out of the crowd, and some began to hold onto stationary objects in order to not be pushed.
From that point, the surge continues downhill, assumed to have led to the horrific tragedy.

The MAMA Awards was first held in 1999 under the name Mnet Music Video Festival. The event eventually evolved into the well-known Mnet Asian Music Awards in 2009, “[announcing] the arrival of a music awards celebration dedicated to Asia.”
K-Pop artistry and fandom are channeled as a force for good guided by a message of shared hope and empowerment. Boldness, passion, and audacious dreams : the MAMA Awards is an unequaled opportunity to experience the quintessential values of K-Pop.
— MAMA Awards
The 2022 MAMA Awards will take place in Japan on November 29-30, so with the awards show happening in a month, netizens are already speculating about who will take home the grand prizes (daesangs). Notably, even though netizens can use the MAMA Awards‘ criteria to speculate about who will take the awards, the judging panel can greatly influence the results.
Here is the current outlook.
Artist of the Year
The “Artist of the Year” daesang is decided by 20% digital sales in Korea, 10% digital sales globally, 30% physical sales, and 40% from the judge’s panel.
Based on these metrics and without the inclusion of the judge’s 40%, IVE is the predicted winner for “Artist of the Year.”
However, notably, Lim Young Woong has the highest digital sales in Korea, BTS has the highest digital sales globally, and Stray Kids has the highest physical sales.
Song of the Year
The “Song of the Year” daesang is decided by 40% digital sales in Korea, 20% digital sales globally, and 40% from the judge’s panel.
Based on these metrics and without the inclusion of the judge’s 40%, IVE’s hit-song “LOVE DIVE” is the predicted winner for “Song of the Year.”
Although IVE’s “LOVE DIVE” had the highest digital sales in Korea, BLACKPINK‘s “Pink Venom” notably had the highest digital sales globally.
Album of the Year
The “Album of the Year” daesang is decided by 60% physical album sales and 40% from the judge’s panel.
Based on the metrics for physical album sales and without the inclusion of the judge’s 40%, BTS’s anthology album PROOF is predicted to win “Album of the Year.”
